What you wear to your engagement session is kind of a big deal. Here are my top picks with an inspo board to get you started. My goal is to curate outfits that fit your unique personality and style!
1)WEAR SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD!
It could be a long, flowy maxi dress, a fancy dress, or jeans and a t-shirt. We all have our own unique style, and we 100% embrace the unique-ness that is you!
2)Wear something for the environment you will be in!
This one is pretty self-explanatory. If it’s 90+ degrees out, the last thing you want to wear is pants and a sweater! If it’s chilly out, you don’t want to be freezing if you are in a summer dress. Be smart, and dress accordingly to your location! Also don’t wear heels, especially not in the hills/mountains! A lot of couples will hike to the location and change into their formal dress behind a bush!
3)BRING PROPS AND ACCESSORIES!
Props can add a fun little twist to your session. It can be as simple as a hat or a bouquet of flowers, or you can go all out and bring your fur-baby. A sign that says “save the date”, “we’re engaged” etc, bring champagne to pop (this is my favorite) or even just a cozy blanket to cuddle up in!
4)Bring an Extra Outfit!
Its recommended that couples bring at least one or two extra outfits to change into for their session! My couples normally choose to bring one dressier outfit and one more casual. Ladies bring Comfy shoes to walk around in! Also if your session is at the beach you will get wet (possibly soaked) so make sure to bring a change of clothes for the ride home!
YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO OVERDRESSED!
So when choosing your fancy/dressier outfit choose what makes you feel confident!
5)Get your hair and makeup professionally done!
If you can have these done, I HIGHLY recommend doing so! It gives you a chance to be pampered and gives you an extra confidence boost when you look and feel great! I also recommend getting your nails done, it helps compliment that stunning engagement ring! This is also a great time to schedule your hair and makeup trial for your wedding day!
6)Simple is best!
Don’t wear shirts that have large logos or crazy designs. Try not to wear patterned clothing or if you do don't both wear patterns. Simple clothing items tend to work best and don’t take away the focus from the couple!
7)Have fun when choosing your outfits!
Wear something that expresses your personalities (nothing to crazy please!) Fun bright colors photograph well as long as they compliment each other. Some Photographers say to not match but if done right this is really cute!
